This is it, my final political podcast episode (at least for a while). I had no intention of addressing the midterm election results until I began to see the hurt and pain the results caused for so many people across the country. It’s my goal to process what happened and I had the pleasure of speaking with an actual Floridian who is in the thick of the recount madness. Darryl Whiting calls himself a concerned citizen and that is exactly what he is. He grew up in Memphis with a father who introduced him to the civil right’s movement, having marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Darryl maintained his interest in politics and has campaigned for many candidates over the years, and most recently for gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum. Darryl was a first hand witness to some of the voter irregularities and attempts at voter suppression. Despite those experiences he remains optimistic and a believer in the process. Listen to his story and keep the faith. Your candidate may not have won this time, but do not give up on future elections. Change is happening and it’s up to each and every one of us.
