Social Activism, Jay Z & Kaepernick

The Happy Squad: Karen Wilson, Jittaun Woods and Michael Hurt

The biggest news of the past week featured the deal made between the NFL and super star Jay Z. Jay Z is best known as one the greatest hip hop artists of all time, but now his fame transcends the music industry as he is now a billionaire entrepreneur. He is a business within himself and has been quietly taking on racial injustice for years, but as of late has stepped forward to be the voice of a generation addressing racism and the justice system. He has been a visible and vocal supporter of Colin Kaepernick’s activism and his battle against the NFL. The black community seems to be divided down the middle with those siding with Jay Z’s partnership with the NFL and those who criticize him as a sell out. In this podcast episode we discuss the issue from all sides.
